The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team slipped to 0-2 with a 2-0 loss to Colby at Prescott Field today.
The Beavers are scheduled to take on Thomas in Waterville on Saturday. The Mules improved to 1-1.
Katie McCabe (Watertown, CT) and Meggie Herlihy (Simsbury, CT) each tallied a goal for Colby, which outshot the hosts 15-3.
UMF goalkeeper Kerry Kowalczyk (Topsham, ME) survived a barrage of four corner kicks over a five-minute span in the first half with a pair of saves and a McCabe rocket off the crossbar before McCabe teed up a Whitney Lynn (Dallas, Texas) for a 1-0 lead at 43:26. The Mules held a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks.
Herlihy padded the advantage to 2-0 at 67:46 with a penalty kick.
Kowalczyk and Ashley Holshouser (Berwick, ME) split time in goal for the Beavers. Holhouser made six saves in the second half.
Loni Pisani (Kanata, Canada) faced three shots, turning back two for Colby.
