FARMINGTON, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team fell to Maine Maritime Academy, 3-1, on Saturday evening at Ritchie Field in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Quarterfinal.

The loss for the Beavers signals an end to their 2026 season. The win for the Mariners advances them into the NAC Semifinals and a matchup with Husson University.

Farmington finished the season at 2-14-2 overall  following the loss, while Maine Maritime improved to 10-6-1 on the season with the win.

How it Happened:

Maine Maritime opened the scoring in the 11th minute when Charlotte Manes found the back of the net off an assist from Hadley Stoddard to give the Mariners a 1-0 lead.

Farmington looked to respond with several scoring opportunities, including shots from Rita Benoit (Rumford, Maine) and Emma Dunn (Greene, Maine) that were turned away by Mariners goalkeeper Isa Thesing. Kyri Meak (Portland, Maine) nearly tied the game in the 17th minute, but her shot struck the crossbar.

Maine Maritime carried its 1-0 advantage into halftime and held an 11-5 advantage in shots and just a 2-1 advantage in corner kicks after the opening 45 minutes.

The Mariners extended their lead just over seven minutes into the second half. In the 53rd minute, Harlow O'Leary was the beneficiary of a Stoddard pass across the goal mouth and didn not miss the open net to put Maine Maritime ahead 2-0.

Farmington continued to battle and cut the deficit in half in the 68th minute. Hannah Milliken (Greene, Maine) connected with Clifford, who launched a bomb from 35-plus yards out that snuck just under the cross bar for her fifth goal of the season and made it a 2-1 contest.

Maine Maritime responded with an insurance goal in the 76th minute, as O'Leary found the back of the net for the second time in the contest off an assist from Abby Wong to extend the Mariners' lead to 3-1.

The Beavers continued to compete down the stretch, but Maine Maritime's defense held strong over the final minutes to secure the 3-1 victory.
