Box Score

FARMINGTON -- University of Maine at Fort Kent slipped past University of Maine at Farmington 2-1 in non-conference women's soccer action this afternoon at Prescott Field.

The Beavers (5-5-1) are scheduled to visit Bates College Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. match. The Bengals (12-2) are tabbed to take on Fisher College Oct. 24 in Fort Kent.

With the contest knotted at 1-1, Theresa Biggs (Cape Town, South Africa) scored the game-winner at 71:05. Biggs was the beneficiary of the quick passing of Donike Ferriera (Montego Bay, Jamaica) and Callie Rigsby (Temecula, Calif.) in giving the Bengals a 2-1 lead.

After a scoreless first half, Whitney Sinclair (Dexter, Maine) scored off a Jenn Colpitts (Scarborough, Maine) feed to give Fort Kent a 1-0 edge at 50:26. The Beavers responded under two minutes later when Alida Peake (Penobscot, Maine) curled a corner kick into the net for a 1-1 deadlock.

Liz Morneault (Eagle Lake, Maine) logged six saves for the Bengals, who outshot the Beavers 17-11.

McKell Barnes (Durham, Maine) stopped 12 shots in the loss. Barnes preserved the scoreless first half when she punched a doorstep header by Biggs into the air and hauled down the loose ball.
