Box Score FARMINGTON -- The University of Maine at Farmington netted a pair of first-half goals and held Johnson State College to zero shots in the second half as the Beavers dispatched the Badgers 2-1 in North Atlantic Conference women's soccer action today at Prescott Field
The Beavers (6-7-1, 3-1) are scheduled to host Lyndon State College Sunday at noon, while the Badgers (6-5, 1-3) are slated to visit Thomas College Sunday at noon.
Katie Cray (Richmond, Maine) and Noelle Moulton (York, Maine) each tallied a goal for Farmington, which outshot Johnson State 27-9. Kayla Tuttle (Waterville, Maine ) assisted on both scores.
Cray's marker at 12:37 and Moulton's breakaway score at 37:26 put the Beavers ahead 2-0 in the first half, but Jennifer Ferrari (Westfield, Mass.) scored off a corner kick, assist to Kyleigh Joseph (Hancock, N.H.), as Johnson State slimmed the lead to 2-1 at 41:38. Ferrari's goal hit the crossbar and Farmington keeper McKell Barnes (Durham, Maine) hauled the ricochet in, but it was ruled over the line for the 2-1 score at intermission.
With the wind at their backs, the Beavers controlled the field in the second half, firing 20 shots and taking five corner kicks. Farmington was unable to increase its advantage, but it kept the visitors off the board in grabbing the 2-1 NAC win.
Barnes finished with five saves in the victory.
Jes Gertsch (East Haven, Conn.) recorded 14 saves for the Badgers.
