Box Score WATERVILLE - - Kayla Tuttle (Waterville, Maine) scored twice and Melanie Schanck (Richmond, Maine) tallied a goal and two assists as the University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team rolled past Thomas College 5-0 in North Atlantic Conference action at Alumni Field.
The Beavers (8-7-1, 5-1) are scheduled to close out the regular season when they host Maine Maritime Saturday at 1 p.m. The Terriers dropped to 6-9 (2-4).
The Terriers controlled the ball on their offensive end in the early parts of the game until Farmington's Katie Cray (Richmond, Maine) found the back of the net off of a Schanck assist. The Beavers found the net again when Tuttle scored off a corner kick with help from Cray and Schanck for a 2-0 lead for Farmington
Alida Peake (Penobscot, Maine) scored off of Schanck's second assist of the day. Farmington went on to score two more goals in the contest; when Tuttle found the back of the net for the second time and Schanck put a goal of her own in for the 5-0 win.
McKell Barnes (Durham, Maine), Crystal Johnson (Cornville, Maine) and Beth Lebel (Lewiston, Maine) combined on the shutout for Farmington. Barnes made two saves in the win.
Both Thomas Goal Keepers Kate Thibodeau (Woolwich, Maine) and Allyssa Vitalone (Bingham, Maine) saw a lot of action today as the Terriers got outshot 18 to 3. Thomas's Thibodeau had three saves against six shots on goal in the first half. Vitalone stopped five of the 12 shots on goal she saw in the second half.
