St. Germain nets game-winner for women's soccer

FARMINGTON -- Aimee St. Germain (Gorham, Maine) cashed in a Renee Dupre (Rehoboth, Mass.) corner kick at 99:13 to lift the University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team to a 1-0 overtime win over University of Maine at Machias today in non-conference competition at Prescott Field.

Farmington (4-3-1) is scheduled to visit Bowdoin College Sunday at noon. The Clippers (4-6) are slated to host University of Maine at Presque Isle Saturday at 3 p.m.

Despite outshooting Machias 26-5, the Beavers found themselves in scoreless deadlock at the end of regulation. Six minutes into the extra period, St. Germain had a wide attempt and Katie Cray (Richmond, Maine) was snubbed by Machias keeper Stephanie Wunderley (Seagartown, Pa.).Shortly after those chances, Dupre had a corner kick that bounced around in the box before St. Germain drilled it into the back of the net for the 1-0 win.

McKell Barnes (Durham, Maine) recorded the shutout for the Beavers. The senior made three saves in the win.

Wunderley finished the contest with 15 saves.
