Beavers bow out of NAC Quarterfinals

Box Score

BANGOR, Maine -- No. 6 University of Maine at Farmington was eliminated from the North Atlantic Conference Tournament today as the Beavers took a 3-0 quarterfinal loss at No. 3 Husson University.

The Beavers finished their season a 5-10-3, while the Eagles advance to the NAC Semifinals to face No. 2 Colby-Sawyer College Tuesday.

Alexandra Laniewski netted a pair of goals for Husson, which outshot UMF 22-7.

Laniewski rifled one that ricocheted off of the crossbar and Farmington goalie Beth Lebel's (Lewiston, Maine) fingertips, seemingly tiptoeing the goal line and was cleared away.

Laniewski finally put the Eagles on the board at 40:01 as she let loose from 10 yards and the ball deflected off a Beaver defender for the notch.

Five minutes into the half, Emily Zurcher netted one with Katelyn Cloutier providing the opportunity.

Husson kept pace throughout the rest of the frame as Laniewski would net her second of the night in the 77th to seal the win.

Lebel made six saves for UMF over the first 80:30, while Crystal Johnson (Cornville, Maine) recorded three stops to close the match.

Jessica Poulin turned in three saves for Husson.
