Box Score BOSTON -- Alyssa Neptune (Readfield, Maine) scored five goals and assisted on a pair of tallies as the University of Maine at Farmington women's lacrosse team notched its first win of the season with a 16-4 non-conference victory over Wheelock College this afternoon at the Winsor School.
The Beavers (1-3) are off until April 6 when they are scheduled to visit Husson University to open North Atlantic Conference East Division play. The opening draw is on tap for 4:30 p.m.
Aimee St. Germain (Gorham, Maine) added four goals and an assist for Farmington, while Molly Carbin (Scarborough, Maine) supplied two goals and an assist and Corinne Vierkant (Stow, Mass.) handed out three helpers. Nateasha Ouellette (Lewiston, Maine) scored twice in the win with Abbey Gilbert (Wilton, Maine), Miranda Levesque (Sanford, Maine) and Hillary Morrison (Camden, Maine) each scoring once.
Hannah Goodenow (Freeport, Maine) registered nine saves for the Beavers. Farmington held a 42-17 advantage in shots.
Despina Savvoulides netted a hat trick for Wheelock.
Alexandra Perry made 13 saves for the Wildcats.
Gilbert scored after 18 seconds to stake the Beavers to an early edge, but Kennedy tallied at the 27:10 mark of the opening half to draw Wheelock even. Three straight goals by the visitors were met by a Savvoulides marker at 17:11, making the score 4-2, but Farmington followed by rattling off another 3-0 run, with St. Germain scoring once and assisting another. Savvoulides created a 7-3 margin at 8:28, just 24 seconds after St. Germain's goal, but the Beavers responded with the next seven markers prior to a Savvoulides tally with 7:30 left in the second half.
