Box Score BANGOR -- The University of Maine at Farmington opened North Atlantic Conference East Division women's lacrosse play with a 16-9 loss to Husson University this afternoon.
The Beavers (1-4, 0-1) are scheduled to visit Green Mountain College Friday for a 2:30 p.m. contest. The Eagles evened their record at 4-4 (2-0).
Molly Carbin (Scarborough, Maine) and Aimee St. Germain (Gorham, Maine) each netted a pair of goals for Farmington. Carbin also recorded six groundballs, four draw controls and a pair of caused turnovers. Abbey Gilbert (Wilton, Maine), Miranda Levesque (Sanford, Maine), Emma Morrison (Saco, Maine) and Alyssa Neptune (Readfield, Maine) each pitched in a goal in the loss.
Hannah Goodenow (Freeport, Maine) stopped 13 shots for the Beavers, who were outshot 35-29.
Megan Clement scored five goals to power the Eagles, while Alex Huffman notched a hat trick and Amanda Mora and Stephanie Eaton each had two goals and an assist.
Kaleigh Morneau registered 15 saves for Husson.
Husson outscored the Beavers 6-1 over the opening 15 minutes of the contest on its way to a 9-5 halftime lead. A Carbin goal with 22:32 left to play slimmed the game to 11-7, but the Eagles responded with scores from Huffman, Mora and Clement to take a 14-7 command and earn their second NAC East win with a 16-9 victory.
