Box Score POUTLNEY, Vt. -- The University of Maine at Farmington couldn't recover from a five-goal first-half hole as the Beavers fell to Green Mountain College 12-9 in North Atlantic Conference East Division play this afternoon.
The Beavers (1-5, 0-2) are scheduled to host Rivier College in non-conference action Sunday at 10 a.m. The game will be played at Kents Hill School due to unplayable field conditions in Farmington. Green Mountain upped its record to 4-3 (2-1).
Emma Morrison (Saco, Maine) tallied four goals to lead the Beavers, while also collecting team-highs in draw controls (five) and caused turnovers (three). Corinne Vierkant (Stow, Mass.) supplied a pair of scores and an assist in the loss, while Miranda Levesque (Sanford, Maine) and Alyssa Neptune (Readfield, Maine) each had a goal and an assist and Aimee St. Germain (Gorham, Maine) added a goal.
Hannah Goodenow (Freeport, Maine) made 13 saves for the Beavers, who were outshot 36-28.
Amanda Malkin led the Eagles with four goals, while Johanna Douglas added a hat trick and Amanda Posey scored two goals and assisted on a score.
Kelsy Allan manned the pipes for Green Mountain with 13 saves.
After an unassisted marker by Vierkant made the score 4-3 in favor of the Eagles with 15:18 left until intermission, Malkin netted a pair of goals to guide Green Mountain on a 4-0 stretch to an 8-3 lead with 5:37 left until halftime. Following an exchange of goals, Vierkant scored off an Abbey Gilbert (Wilton, Maine) pass as time expired to cut the hosts' lead to 9-5.
Three straight scores by the Beavers trimmed Green Mountain's advantage to 10-8 with 16:05 to play. After nearly eight minutes of offensive silence, Posey posted a goal with 8:08 left in regulation to put the Eagles ahead 11-8. Morrison scored to knock the lead down to 11-9 with 5:57 left, but Farmington could not get closer in falling to Green Mountain 12-9.
