Box Score BOSTON -- Amie Daniels (Lewiston, Maine) registered six points, including a game-high five goals, to lead the University of Maine at Farmington women's lacrosse team over host Wheelock College 22-5 this afternoon at Winsor Field.
The Beavers evened their record at 1-1 are scheduled to head to Leicester, Mass., on Saturday for a 2:30 p.m. tilt with Becker College., The Wildcats fell to 0-2.
Wheelock wasted no time in getting on the board when senior attacker Kylie Hefford (Exeter, NH) found freshman attacker Valerie Ferrante (Milford, Mass.) for her first collegiate goal on a shot coming across the crease just 16 seconds into the match. UMF responded just 10 seconds later when Daniels scored to spark a string of seven unanswered goals in just under five minutes for a 7-1 lead. Ferrante broke up the scoring spree with her second of the day on a long feed fromJessica Hersom (Sanford, Maine) at the 23:28 mark of the first half to pull the Wildcats to within 7-2. The Beavers scored six straight goals in the next seven-plus minutes, courtesy of a pair of Daniels' tallies and one each from Morrison, Neptune, Gilbert and
Miranda Levesque (Sanford, Maine). Katie Gavin (Manchester-by-the-Sea, Mass.) added to Wheelock's goal total on a free position shot that found the back of the net with 15:03 left to go in the opening half to cut the deficit to 13-3. UMF closed out the period with three more scores on shots from Kadnar, Gilbert and Levesque.
Neptune and Kadnar each scored goals in the first five minutes to open the second half for the Beavers, before Taylor Rogers (Essex, Mass.) made the best of a free position opportunity with her first goal of the season at 23:24 of the second stanza to make it 18-4. UMF came back with four more goals, including one each from Gilbert, Emma Morrison, Molly Carbin (Scarborough, Maine) and Hillary Morrison (Camden, Maine). Gavin capped the afternoon's scoring with her second goal of the match for the Wildcats at the 5:02 mark.
Daniels added a ground ball and three draw controls to her day for the Beavers, while Kadnar finished with six points, including three assists in addition to a pair of ground balls. Levesque added two assists to her pair of goals and a ground ball, while

Gavin won six draws to go with her two goals for Wheelock and Ferrante scooped up two ground balls to go with her two goals. Rogers finished with a team-high four ground balls and Hersom picked up three ground balls for the day.
Alanna Pihl (Franconia, N.H.) stopped six of 22 shots she faced in the first half for the Wildcats and Monica Bettle (Pembroke, Mass.) turned away seven of 13 shots in the second half in her collegiate debut.
