Box Score NEWTON, Mass. -- Lasell College extended its win streak to six games as the Lasers took down the University of Maine at Farmington 16-6 in non-conference women's lacrosse action this afternoon at Grellier Field.
The Beavers finished their March slate with a record of 2-2. UMF is off until April 6 when it is scheduled to open North Atlantic Conference East Division play against Colby-Sawyer College at 1 p.m. on Prescott Field. Lasell upped its mark to 6-1.
Emma Morrison (Saco, Maine) scored a trio of goals for the Beavers, who also received a goal each from Molly Carbin (Scarborough, Maine), Maddi Kadnar (Belgrade, Maine) and Alyssa Neptune (Readfield, Maine). Morrison also had team-highs of five ground balls and six draw controls in the loss, while Miranda Levesque (Sanford, Maine) assisted on Carbin's goal.
Britney Wuorio tallied five goals and an assist to power the Lasers with Ashley Slattery adding three goals and three assists and Caitlyn Brecher and Bridget Ryan each pitching in with three scores. Lasell fired off 34 shots to the Beavers' 21.
Morrison got the Beavers out to a 2-0 lead over the first 10:53 of the game, but Lasell answered with five straight scores, while holding UMF off the board for nearly 16 minutes, to take a 5-2 advantage with 3:51 until intermission. Neptune broke the drought with an unassisted tally with 1:33 left in the first. The Lasers scored twice in the final 22 seconds for a 7-3 halftime lead.
Following two exchanges of scores over the first 10:14 of the second, Ryan kicked off a 5-0 stretch that helped the hosts put the contest away. Wuorio converted a free-position shot and netted an unassisted goal to cap the run and give the Lasers a 14-5 command with 6:10 to play to seal the 16-6 victory.
Hannah Goodenow (Freeport, Maine) stopped 13 shots for the Beavers.
Alexa Katsigianis registered 10 saves for Lasell.
