Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine – Colby College junior Crysti Tsujiura scored the Mules' first two goals and let her teammates build on the lead on their way to a 5-0 non-conference women's soccer win over the University of Maine at Farmington, Tuesday afternoon at Prescott Field.
Tsujiura buried the loose rebound off a shot by Carly Dee in the 13th minute, giving Colby (3-1-0) the early lead. Colby's lead held at 1-0 through the remainder of the first half, with both defenses successfully smothering any coordinated attacks.
UMaine-Farmington (3-2-0) stayed within one goal of Colby for the first part of the second half, before a long shot by Tsujiura in the 61st minute beat the UMF keeper after deflecting off one of her defenders.
The Mules' Grace Dickinson added to the Colby lead in the 79th minute, beating UMaine-Farmington keeper Beth Lebel (Lewiston, Maine/Lewiston) with a header off a service by Kate Pistel. Maddie Tight put the Mules in front, 4-0, in the 82nd minute with a long shot from the corner that hooked around through the 6-yard box and caromed into the goal off the post. Pistel scored Colby's final goal to go with her earlier assist, putting a loose ball past Lebel in the 84th minute.
Colby outshot UMaine-Farmington 24-6, with Lebel making four saves in the Beavers' goal. Mules keeper Emily Brook was also credited with four saves in the win. Six different UMF players accounted for the Beavers' shots.
The Mules were awarded 15 corner kicks to UMaine-Farmington's one, and neither team was whistled offside during the game.
UMaine-Farmington remains at home for its next contest, hosting Lyndon State in a North Atlantic Conference game on Saturday, Sept. 22, at 3:15 p.m. at Prescott Field. Colby also returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 22, when it takes on Tufts University in a NESCAC game at 12:30 p.m. in Medford, Mass.
