Box Score BOSTON – Junior midfielder Kayla Tuttle (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) logged a hat-trick while senior midfielder Noelle Moulton (Cape Neddick, Maine/York) scored twice to lead the University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team to a 10-1 win over Wheelock College, Saturday evening at Winsor Field.
UMaine-Farmington (1-0) scored nine goals in the first half, starting with a flurry of three goals in the span of just over four minutes to take an early lead. Freshman forward Shelby Bryant (South Portland, Maine/Catherine McAuley) opened the span with an unassisted goal in the 11th minute, followed by unassisted tallies by Tuttle and Katie Emmons (South Berwick, Maine/Marshwood) in the 14th and 15th minutes respectively.
Back-to-back goals just 20 seconds apart in the 28th minute extended the Beavers' lead to 6-0. UMF added three more goals in the final four minutes of the first half, including a pair of markers in the final 20 seconds before the intermission.
Alida Peake (Penobscot, Maine/George Stevens Academy) scored the lone UMF goal of the second half in the 47th minute. Three minutes later, Wheelock's Madeline Domingo broke the Beavers' shutout bid with an unassisted goal.
UMF outshot Wheelock (0-2) 40-4, and took six corner kicks to Wheelock's two.
Junior keeper Beth Lebel (Lewiston, Maine/Lewiston) got the start and recorded one save over 45 minutes in goal, while freshman keeper Samantha Hatch (Hebron, Maine/Oxford Hills) came on in the second half but did not record a save.
UMaine-Farmington concludes the two-game trip to Boston this afternoon at Lesley University.
