FARMINGTON, Maine – Three goals each by freshman Ayla Allen (Rumford, Maine/Mountain Valley) and junior Molly Carbin (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) led the University of Maine at Farmington women's lacrosse team downed visiting Green Mountain College, 11-7, Sunday afternoon at Prescott Field.

UMaine-Farmington improved to 5-7 overall with the win, 3-3 in the North Atlantic Conference, and secured a home first round game for the 2013 NAC Tournament. The Beavers will host New England College (4-13, 2-4 NAC) on Wednesday, April 24, at Prescott Field. Game time will be determined on Monday.

Green Mountain dropped to 2-10, 0-6 NAC, with the loss.

Green Mountain held the lead for much of the first half, with UMaine-Farmington finally overtaking the Eagles on Chelsea Morley's (York, Maine/York) free position goal with 7:54 remaining in the opening half.

Mara Balboni (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) and Allen each tacked on goals before the half ended, giving the Beavers a 5-2 lead at the intermission.

Johanna Douglas (Essex, Conn.) scored for Green Mountain just 14 seconds into the second half, briefly cutting the margin to two goals. Carbin and Allen both answered for Farmington within the ensuing 90-second span, extending the UMF lead to 7-3.

A series of late goals, including two by Douglas and one by Corinne Colpitts (Groveland, Mass.) brought Green Mountain back to within two of the Beavers, 9-7, with 8:05 remaining in the game. Farmington successfully regrouped defensively and held the Eagles to just one shot the rest of the way, while Carbin and Maddi Kadnar (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) each scored in the final two minutes to secure the Farmington win.

UMF goalie Hannah Goodenow (Freeport, Maine/Freeport) charted seven saves on the day, while Green Mountain's Virginia Anderson logged six stops. The two teams each finished with 25 shots, while Green Mountain picked up 34 groundballs to UMaine-Farmington's 26.
