Box Score BANGOR, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington junior Ava Amador scored a pair of goals while senior Kayla Tuttle added one to lead the Beavers to a 3-1 North Atlantic Conference women's soccer win over Husson University, Saturday night at Boucher Field.
Saturday night's win ended UMaine-Farmington's (2-3-1, 2-0-0 NAC) four-game winless streak against Husson (2-5-1, 0-1-1 NAC) dating back to the 2010 season. It was also the Beavers' first regular season road win over Husson since October 12, 2002, when UMF notched a 1-0 double overtime win in Bangor.
Amador, who was playing just her second game of the season since returning from a preseason injury, scored her first goal of the game in the 23rd minute off assists from Shelby Bryant and Alexandra Crocker. UMaine-Farmington's lead held for 11 minutes until Husson's Desir'ee Hamler scored in the 34th minute, and the game went into the halftime break knotted at 1-1.
The Beavers broke the tie in the 68th minute on a goal by Kayla Tuttle, off an assist by Sara Quimby. Amador added an unassisted insurance goal with just seven seconds showing on the game clock, to give Farmington the final 3-1 margin.
UMaine-Farmington had a commanding 22-8 advantage in total shots taken, including a
17-4 lead in shots on goal. Husson keeper Jess Poulin finished with 13 saves, while UMaine-Farmington keepers Beth Lebel and Amy Jones combined for three saves on the night.
Husson did take five corner kicks to UMaine-Farmington's two.
UMaine-Farmington returns to the pitch on Monday, Sept. 23, when the Beavers host UMaine-Presque Isle at 4:00 p.m. at Prescott Field.
