Rollins & Bearor pace Beavers at Southern Maine Cup

GORHAM, Maine -- University of Maine at Farmington sophomores Tom Bearor and Simon Rollins combined to card a team best 71 at Friday's Southern Maine Cup, hosted by the University of Southern Maine at Gorham Country Club.

The tandem was tied for sixth overall in the event, played on the par-71, 6059-yard Gorham course. The Southern Maine Cup features pairs of golfers playing six holes of best ball, followed by six holes of scramble format and finally six holes of alternate shot golf. 

Joe Messerman and David Berthiaume fired a 77, six over par, while Chris Wallace and Ben Sylvain finished with an 83 (+12).

USM totaled 205 points to win the event, led by Brad Myers and Tom Murry with a 67 (-4). The University of New England was second with a score of 217, followed by Saint Joseph's College (226), and UMaine-Farmington (231).
