WATERVILLE, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington men's golf team heads to Cobleskill, New York, this weekend to compete in the 2025 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship. On Thursday afternoon, the conference office announced the results of the Pre-Championship Coaches Poll, where the Beavers were picked to finish sixth out of the eight competing teams.
Husson University topped the coaches' poll and will aim to capture its fifth straight NAC Championship.
The event will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the Cobleskill Golf and Country Club. The first tee times are set for 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, with Farmington's first golfer scheduled to head out at 10:50 a.m. Golfers will play in groups of three, with Farmington's players paired with Lesley University and SUNY Cobleskill on day one. Pairings and tee times for day two will be determined following the completion of the first round.
Despite being picked to finish sixth, the Beavers will look to improve on their fifth-place finish from a season ago. In last year's two-day event at Chicopee Country Club, the Beavers carded a team score of 685.
This season's roster looks drastically different from last year's group, with four of the five golfers traveling to New York this weekend competing in their first NAC Championship. A season ago, the Beavers were a veteran team, as four of their golfers were seniors who have since graduated. Neil LaRochelle III led the Beavers at Chicopee, finishing tied for tenth overall and earning Second Team All-Conference honors.
The lone returner from last season's championship lineup is Cooper Boinske (Westfield, Maine). Boinske placed 31st overall, finishing 39-over par. This weekend, he will compete as Farmington's No. 2 golfer. Boinske has played in six events this season for the Beavers, averaging 81.6 per 18 holes — a significant improvement from the 87.9 he averaged as a first-year.
First-year Caleb Harvey (Bath, Maine) will serve as the Beavers' No. 1 golfer this weekend. Harvey has enjoyed a strong debut season, earning a pair of NAC Rookie of the Week honors while boasting a 78.4 scoring average per 18 holes. He has finished inside the top ten at three events this season, including medalist honors in a match against Southern Maine Community College on September 18.
First-year Gage Suitter (Bath, Maine), a Morse High School graduate, will play out of the No. 3 spot this weekend. Suitter has been a mainstay in the Beavers' lineup throughout the season and will look to post a pair of consistent rounds at the championship. He finished the season with an 88.8 average per 18 holes, with his lowest round — an 83 (12-over par) — coming at the Husson Invitational on September 13.
Sophomore Trent Beaudoin (Farmington, Maine) will make his NAC Championship debut this weekend as Farmington's No. 4 golfer. Beaudoin has been a regular in the lineup this season, competing in the third through fifth spots. He averaged 94.4 per 18 holes, with his best round of the season coming on September 18 at Waterville Country Club, where he shot an 85 against Southern Maine Community College.
Rounding out the lineup is sophomore Jackson Forrest (Portland, Maine), who will serve as the No. 5 golfer. Forrest was on the roster last season but did not compete at the NAC Championship. He played in ten events this year, posting a season-low round of 88 at the UMF Invitational on September 21 at Waterville Country Club. Forrest finished the season with a 93.0 scoring average per 18 holes.
