Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team pushed its unbeaten streak to four games and its North Atlantic Conference record to 3-0-0 with a 5-0 shutout over North Atlantic Conference rival Thomas College, Saturday afternoon at Prescott Field.
The winning streak is UMaine-Farmington's (4-3-1, 3-0-0 NAC) longest since the Beavers won four-in-a-row to close out the 2010 regular season. The victory was also UMF's second straight shutout win over Thomas, after posting a 4-0 triumph over the Terriers last season in Waterville.
Junior Ava Amador accounted for three of Farmington's goals, including her first in the 19th minute for the official game winner off a pass from senior Kayla Tuttle. Senior Renee Dupre sent UMaine-Farmington into the locker room at the break with a 2-0 lead, when she scored off a cross from Sarah Pokorny.
The second half saw the momentum swing even further in UMaine-Farmington's favor, with the Beavers scoring twice in the early minutes of the frame. Junior Jenna Silliboy added to UMF's lead in the 52nd minute off a pass from Alexandra Crocker, and Amador added her second of the game just over five minutes later. Amador's second goal was a put-back from well inside the box in the 57th minute, off Tuttle's attempt that caromed hard off the crossbar.
Amador closed out the scoring in the 83rd minute, with Pokorny getting credited with an assist.
UMaine-Farmington had a commanding 34-8 lead in shots over Thomas (3-6-0, 1-2-0 NAC), while the Beavers had a narrow 5-3 advantage in corner kicks.
Senior Beth Lebel earned the win in goal for the Beavers, recording four saves in the first half. Amy Jones played in the second half, charting one save in the shared shutout. Thomas keepers Kate Thibodeau and Paige Leary split time in the Terrier goal, with Thibodeau logging 10 saves over her nearly 76 minutes between the pipes.
UMaine-Farmington travels to Colby College this Tuesday, Oct. 1, for a non-conference contest. Thomas College also heads out of the NAC loop on Tuesday, playing at Regis College (Mass.).
