Box Score LYNDONVILLE, Vt. – The UMaine-Farmington women's soccer team shutout North Atlantic Conference opponent Lyndon State, 3-0, Wednesday afternoon to win their fourth straight game this season.
UMF won it's fourth straight conference game and improve to 5-1 in conference play. The Beavers sit tied for second with Husson and trail Colby-Sawyer by one a half with today's win.
The Beavers did not waste any time taking the lead when Katie Clark scored the game's first goal and Clark's first goal of the season in the 7th minute. Bridget Humphrey's throw-in landed at the foot of Clark, who dribbled her way through the Hornet defense, and then her one-hop shot skipped through the legs of Lyndon keeper Julianne Anderson.
The reigning NAC Player of the Week, Alexandra Crocker, almost gave the Beavers an insurance goal in the 68th minute but her header hit the crossbar.
Senior Keli McLellan headed her second goal of year into the back of the net to extend the UMF lead to 2-0 in the 79th minute. UMF took advantage of a corner kick by Katie Clark, laced a ball for the lone Vermonter, who gave the Beavers their first goal of the second half.
Avalon Amador answered three minutes later in the 82nd minute when she scored her fifth goal of the season, tying her for the team lead. Jenna Silliboy led a pass over the Lyndon defense to Amador, who chipped a shot top shelf over diving keeper Johanna Sargent .
Sam Hatch recorded two saved in one half of play. Haley Murano saved four shots for the Beavers during a second half relief appearance.
UMaine-Farmington will host Husson on Saturday at Prescott Field. Game time is set for 12:00pm.
