LAST MEETING
SJC held on for a 1-0 win last year. The Monks netted the lone goal of the conference contest in the 22nd minute, when senior Theresa Hendrix netted her fifth goal of the year off a Carley Denis feed on a penalty corner play.
Sophomore defender Meghan Williams served as the corner injector and pushed a long left-to-right pass to Denis, who passed off to Hendrix in the middle of the circle. The senior midfielder quickly turned and fired a knuckleball shot to the left corner of the cage to lift SJC to a 1-0 lead with 13:10 remaining in the first half.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS SAINT JOSEPH'S
UMaine-Farmington has the upper hand in the all-time series with the Monks. With the victory, Saint Joseph's victory last season helped get edge closer, but the Beavers own the series, 21-9. In the history of the series, UMF stole the 2012 meeting but the Monks have won six of the last eight meetings overall.
HOMETOWN HERO
Sarita Crandall was named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Rookie of the Week on Monday.
The Farmington native scored two goals on Saturday as the Beavers shutout New England College, 6-0. Crandall currently sits tied for third on the team with five goals and points scored this season.
HIGH-POWERED OFFENSE
UMF leads the NAC in goals scored (45), goals per game (4.1), assists (21), fewest goals allowed (21), and second in goals against average with an average of 1.91.
Carly Raymond sits second in the NAC with nine goals scored and points scored (19). Teammates Mara Balboni is tied for fifth in the conference with six goals scored and Chelsea Morley sits tied for fifth with 17 points scored this season.
SCOUTING THE MONKS
SJC was shutout on Sunday by Rhodes, 4-0, but the Monks were riding a nine-game win streak. St. Joe's has outscored their opponents this season 45-11 and created more scoring chances than their opponent by generating 174 penalty corners while only giving up 48 corners to their opponents. The Monks like to jump out early as SJC has scored 26 goals in the opening period compared to only surrendering four goals.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
The Monks have four players on their team with at least 20 points scored. Effie Drew leads the team with 11 goals scored and followed by Bailey Cutler with 10 goals. Kelsey Dumond finds herself in more of a balanced attack with seven goals and eight assists.
Senior Chelsea Morley dished two assists in the New England College victory and scored a point in four of the last five games for the Beavers. Carly Raymond has been on a similar streak, but the rookie has scored a goal in four of the past five games.
