BANGOR, Maine -- Five different University of Maine at Farmington players got in on the scoring fun as the Beavers built a four-goal lead and then held host Husson University at bay long enough to post a 9-8 North Atlantic Conference women's lacrosse win over the Eagles, Wednesday night at Boucher Field.

The win marked UMaine-Farmington's third straight victory over Husson in the series, and improved the Beavers' record to 4-7 overall, 2-3 in the NAC. Husson fell to 2-8, 2-3 in conference play.

Freshmen Jaclyn Langevin and Rhi Jackson and sophomores Ayla Allen and Mara Balboni all scored two goals for the Beavers, with freshman Alaina Shorey scored the remaining Farmington goal.

Hayley Thibodeau charted two goals and one assist for Husson, while six other players scored one goal each.

UMaine-Farmington broke a 1-1 tie on Allen's first goal of the night at the 19:52 mark of the first half, which also started a four-goal run by the Beavers. Balboni tallied an unassisted goal with 3:44 showing on the scoreboard, giving Farmington a 5-1 lead.

Husson scored twice late in the first half, including a score by Charlotte Gerhardy with one second on the clock, and added a goal in the first minute of the second half to cut the UMF lead to 5-4.

The Beavers responded with Shorey's lone goal of the night and two by Jackson to extend their lead to 8-4 with 23:36 remaining.  Nearly 15 scoreless minutes passed before Husson could break the scoring drought, and then the Eagles scored twice in less than two minutes to cut the margin to 8-6.

Langevin scored on a free position shot to give Farmington its ninth goal of the night with 5:11 left on the clock, scoring what would prove to be the game winner. Husson scored two goals in the waning minutes, but fell short in its come-back bid.

Senior Hannah Goodenow recorded 14 saves for the Beavers in the win, while Husson goalie Kaitlin Dolloff was credited with eight saves. UMaine-Farmington outshot Husson, 31-28, while the Eagles held a 33-31 advantage in ground balls.

UMaine-Farmington travels to Portland, Maine, on Thursday, April 17, to face Saint Joseph's College of Maine. Husson returns to action on Saturday, April 19, when it faces Castleton State in a road contest.
