Women's lax unable to rally from Monks' early scoring spree

PORTLAND, Maine – Saint Joseph's College amassed 10 goals in the first half alone and cruised to a 13-3 win over the University of Maine at Farmington, in a non-conference women's lacrosse matchup Thursday night at Deering Memorial Stadium.

The Monks' Cassie Diplock recorded a hat trick in the opening half alone, on her way to finishing with four goals. Anneka Adame, Mary Leasure, and Krystal Walsh all recorded two goals, while three other players tallied one goal apiece.

Junior Maddi Kadnar, sophomore Ayla Allen, and freshman Rhi Jackson chalked up the goals for UMaine-Farmington (4-8), all in the second half.

Senior Hannah Goodenow was peppered with 29 shots on goal, and recorded 16 saves. Emma Astbury finished the night with six saves between the pipes for the Monks.

Saint Joseph's outshot Farmington, 40-16, and had 48 ground balls to the Beavers' 33.

UMaine-Farmington closes out the regular season on Saturday, April 18, when it hosts Colby-Sawyer College in a North Atlantic Conference contest. Game time at Ted Alfond Field in Kents Hill, Maine, is 10:00 a.m.
