BOSTON – Emerson College's six-goal run in the second half proved decisive for the Lions in a 14-4 women's lacrosse win over the University of Maine at Farmington, Wednesday afternoon at Rotch Field.

The six straight goals, the first two scored by Alex Corrado, broke open what had been a comparatively close 8-3 game at the intermission, giving Emerson (7-3) a 14-3 lead. The Beavers tacked on a goal by freshman Jaclyn Langevin in the waning minutes for the final margin.

The Beavers (2-3) actually got on the board first with sophomore Ayla Allen's unassisted goal just under nine minutes into the game, but the Lions responded with the next three goals over a four-minute span to take the lead.

An unassisted marker by freshman Rhi Jackson at the 12:18 mark of the first half pulled UMaine-Farmington to within one, 3-2, but a four-goal run by Emerson gave the Lions a 7-2 lead.

Allen scored her second of the game with 4:27 showing on the first half clock, but a late score by Emerson's Kanika Misra sent the teams into the intermission with the Lions leading 8-3.

Misra, Corrado, and Guerin Morrissette all recorded hat tricks for Emerson.

Senior goalie Hannah Goodenow turned aside 13 of the 27 shots she faced in the UMaine-Farmington goal, while Emerson's Gabi Cohen finished with eight saves. Emerson outshot Farmington, 33-15, and the Lions had 23 ground balls to the Beavers' 16.

The Beavers return to the field on Thursday afternoon when they face Emmanuel College at 7:00 p.m.
