FARMINGTON, Maine – Husson University's four-goal run late in the second half lifted the Eagles to a 12-10 win over the University of Maine at Farmington, in Saturday's First Round game of the 2014 North Atlantic Conference Women's Lacrosse Tournament at Prescott Field.

Fifth-seeded Husson improves to 3-9 overall and advances to Tuesday's NAC Tournament Semifinals at No. 1 seed Castleton State College. UMaine-Farmington closes the books on its 2014 campaign with a 5-9 record.

Husson's Michaela Bicknell knotted the game at 9-9 with an unassisted score at the 10:56 mark of the second half, starting a decisive four-goal run for Eagles. Alissa Fallon gave Husson the lead on a free position shot goal with 7:23 showing on the clock, and the Eagles held that lead the rest of the way.

Kim Gambon netted what would prove to be the game winner with 2:48 remaining, and Kayleigh Piccirillo's score with 1:32 to play extended the Eagles' lead to 12-9.

UMaine-Farmington freshman Rhi Jackson brought the Beavers to within two, 12-10, with 53 seconds remaining, but time ran out on UMF's comeback bid.

Earlier in the second half, UMaine-Farmington rallied from an 8-6 deficit with a three-goal surge of its own to take the lead. Freshman Jaclyn Langvin scored once during the run while junior Maddi Kadnar scored twice, leaving the Beavers with a 9-8 lead and some momentum heading into the last 15 minutes of play.

That momentum began slipping away just two minutes later, when UMaine-Farmington's leading scorer, sophomore midfielder Ayla Allen, picked up her second yellow card and was forced to sit out the remainder of the game. Allen scored three first-half goals for Farmington, and was the Beavers' leading scorer in the game.

Kadnar and Jackson each scored twice for UMaine-Farmington, while Langevin, Alaina Shorey, and Mara Balboni all scored one goal apiece.

Fallon paced Husson offensively with four goals and two assists for six points. Gambon charted two goals and two assists for the Eagles, with Abi Staab also scoring twice. Bicknell, Piccirillo, Rashell Saucier, and Mariah Carrier each added one goal to the Eagle cause.

Kaitlyn Dolloff stopped 14 shots on the Husson goal, while senior Hannah Goodenow recorded nine stops for the Beavers.

UMaine-Farmington outshot Husson 31-26 during the game, and had a 35-28 advantage in ground balls. The Beavers also controlled 16 draws to the Eagles' eight.
