GORHAM, Maine – The UMaine-Farmington golf team finished fourth at the University of Southern Maine Cup on Friday afternoon hosted at Gorham Country Club.
The first six holes were played better ball style, the next six holes were scramble play, and the final six holes were alternate shot style.
Tom Bearor and Gavin Brickley lead the Beavers with a 74 on the day and a seventh place finish, three strokes off the lead, which saw a two-way tie. Simon Rollins and Aaron Rivard carded an 80 on the day. Ben Sylvain and Vaughan Keenhold rounded out the UMF playing field with a 92. Southern Maine's Tom Murray and Andrew Richards and the University of New England's Same Kinaswich and Jared Melman completed the event with a 69, rounding out the tie for first.
The Beavers finished fourth as a team with combined score of 246. Southern Maine won the event with a 209.
UMaine-Farmington will continue play at the Cape Arundel Golf Club for the University of New England Invitational on Tuesday, September 30, 2014.
