Box Score

FARMINGTON, Maine – Castleton University (7-6-0, 5-0-0) produced four first half goals on its way to a 6-1 North Atlantic Conference win over the University of Maine at Farmington (3-8-1, 0-4-1) on Saturday afternoon.

Mallory Costello tallied the first goal of the game in the ninth minute for her 13th goal of the season. The Beavers answered back less than three minutes later when Lydia Roy (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) tied the game. Ashley Gleason (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) sent a nice pass through the Castleton defense and Roy lined a shot into the left side of the net.

Castleton responded with four unanswered goals to close out the half, including two goals from Shelby McLenithan.

In the second half, Costello only needed five minutes to notch her second goal of the contest. In the final minute, Bronwen Hopwood gave the Spartans their final margin of victory.

Sam Hatch (Hebron, Maine/Oxford Hills) and Kiana Thompson (Industry, Maine/Mt. Blue) each spent a half in net and save four shots apiece.

UMaine-Farmington returns to conference action on Sunday afternoon when Green Mountain visits Leib Field.
