Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine – Thomas College (9-4-0, 5-1-0) tallied three unanswered goals in the second half to sneak past the University of Maine at Farmington (4-7-2, 2-4-1) men's soccer team with a 3-1 North Atlantic Conference win on Wednesday at Leib Field.
Uriah Forest-Bulley (Turner Falls, Mass./Turner Falls) pushed the Beavers into the lead in the 20th minute. Luke Sterling (Auburn, Maine/Edward Little) set up the attack with a throw-in near the visitor bench. As Sterling launched a pass into the box, Forest-Bulley leaped up and knocked in the goal with a header.
The Terriers wasted very little time with the equalizer. On the opening kickoff in the second half, Willie Clemons sent a through ball to DJ Nickolas, who fired a line drive past UMF keeper Matt Wilson (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) to even the score at one-apiece.
Clemmons gave the Terriers the lead in the 77th minute with a successful corner opportunity. After the Beavers defended the initial kick, Clemmons jumped up and booted in his seventh goal of the season while standing next to the left pipe.
UMF had one more opportunity with a minute and a half remaining to tie the game with a corner kick, but Thomas' defense held strong. With thirty seconds left, Josh Emard added an insurance goal for the Terriers for the final margin of victory.
Wilson nearly had nine saves for the Beavers and Joakim Sternas saved five shots to earn the victory for the Terriers.
UMaine-Farmington travels to Daniel Webster on Saturday in non-conference action.
