Billings Earns College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Honors

FARMINGTON, Maine — University of Maine at Farmington men's soccer senior defender Caelan Billings (Sumner, Maine) has been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced on Tuesday afternoon.

To qualify for the CSC Academic All-District Team, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.50 or higher. Athletes must also have competed in at least 90% of their team's games or started in at least 66% of the total games played.

Billings will graduate in May with a bachelor's degree in Outdoor Recreation Business Administration. He joined the Farmington soccer program as a sophomore after transferring from the University of Maine at Presque Isle. Since arriving in the fall of 2023, Billings has been a mainstay in the lineup for the Beavers, despite missing an extended stretch during his junior season. While he primarily played center back, he also transitioned into a center defensive midfield role on multiple occasions.

Billings was a fearless defender whose leadership and relentless work ethic elevated the Beavers' defensive presence. He finished this season with one goal and one assist, making 15 appearances, including 13 starts. Last week, Billings was also named to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) All-Conference Second Team.

The 2025–26 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined excellence on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately honors student-athletes in four divisions: NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.

Academic All-District® honorees were considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. Student-athletes selected as CSC Academic All-America® finalists are denoted with an asterisk and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC members. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on Dec. 16, 2025 (men) and Dec. 17, 2025 (women).

The Division II and III CSC Academic All-America® programs are partially supported financially by the NCAA Division II and III governance structures to assist with awards fulfillment for the 2025–26 programs. The NAIA CSC Academic All-America® program is similarly supported through the NAIA governance structure.
