Box Score NEW LONDON, N.H. –Emmah Spahr powered the University of Maine at Farmington (8-3, 3-1) field hockey team with a hat trick in Saturday's 6-3 North Atlantic Conference win over Colby-Sawyer College (7-7, 1-3).
Lindsey Whitney scored the first goal of the contest at the 5:40 mark and then Spahr doubled the Beavers' lead nearly ten minutes later with the assist coming from Andrea Stemm.
After Colby-Sawyer got on the scoreboard thirty seconds later, Spahr notched her second goal of the game in the 16th minute to give UMF a 3-1 advantage.
With four minutes remaining in the first half, the Chargers drew closer with another goal but UMF prevailed after Stemm scored with 1:15 left on the clock.
Spahr and Whitney added a pair of goals early in the second half to move the Beavers' lead to 6-2.
Colby-Sawyer added one more goal in the 53rd minute to stop the UMF offensive surge but could not build any further momentum for the final margin of victory.
The Beavers outshot the Chargers, 16-9, and won the penalty corners battle, 8-3.
Patty Smith saved four shots for the Beavers to earn the NAC win.
UMaine-Farmington travels to Saint Joseph's College on Tuesday for the non-conference finale.
