Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine – Bowdoin College (7-4-1) was able to hold onto a 1-0 non-conference win over the University of Maine at Farmington (5-9-1) women's soccer team behind Maggie Godley's eventual game-winning goal on Sunday at Leib Field.
Godley tallied the only goal of the contest in the 18th minute. The Polar Bears were on the attack as Brigit Bergin lined a shot on goal but UMF goalie Kiana Thompson (Industry, Maine/Mt. Blue) was able to deflect it away. As the Beavers tried to clear it, Godley was able to come away with the ball and booted in her first goal of the contest.
UMF's best scoring chance came before Godley's goal in the 10th minute. The Beavers forced a turnover, which led to Lydia Roy (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) having a breakaway opportunity, but the freshman got just behind her shot attempt enough so it sailed high over the crossbar.
Thompson matched the second-most saves by a UMF keeper in one game with 17 stops. Rachel Stout recorded one save for Bowdoin on her way to the shutout victory.
