Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team (7-9-1, 4-4-1) held on for a 3-2 North Atlantic Conference win over Lyndon State College (2-12-1, 1-8-0) on Senior Day at Leib Field.
Ashley Gleason (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) only needed eight and a half minutes to give UMF the lead in the first half. Bridget Humphrey (Jefferson, Maine/Erskine Academy) passed a through ball to Gleason, who jumped up for the header and lined the shot into the right side of the net.
Gleason's goal stood for the remainder of the half and into the second half until senior Dayle Jordan (Greene, Maine/St. Dominic) doubled UMF's lead with a header in the 47th minute. Katie Clark (Westbrook, Maine/Westbrook) took a corner for the Beavers and launched a pass to the far side of the net where Jordan leaped up and knocked in the second goal of the contest.
Aintanna Greenwood got the Hornets on the scoreboard about a minute later. Greenwood took a free kick from the corner of the box and her shot snuck under the crossbar for the goal.
In the 63rd minute, UMF scored the decisive goal off the cleat of Clark. Lydia Roy (Waterville, Maine/Waterville) was handling the ball in the box and dished to her right to Clark, who booted in her fifth goal of the season.
The Hornets clawed back into the contest with less than five minutes remaining behind Kajah Rooke's unassisted goal on a free kick, but the Beavers' defense stepped up and secured the win in the final minutes.
Sam Hatch (Hebron, Maine/Oxford Hills) and Kiana Thompson (Industry, Maine/Mt. Blue) split time in net to secure the win with Thompson making three saves.
UMaine-Farmington will wait for the North Atlantic Conference to announce the playoff pairings on Sunday.
