Box Score JOHNSON, Vt. – The University of Maine at Farmington (2-3-0, 0-1-0) women's soccer team fell in the North Atlantic Conference opener to Johnson State with a 5-1 loss on Saturday.
Dayle Jordan (Greene, Maine/St. Dominic) ruined the shutout for the Badgers by putting the Beavers on the scoreboard with a goal in the 60th minute. After goalie Sam Hatch (Hebron, Maine/Oxford Hills) saved a Johnson State shot, UMF marched down the field and Ashley Gleason (Scarborough, Maine/Scarborough) set up the Beavers' goal with the assist.
Johnson State scored all of its goals in the first half. The Badgers jumped out early with scores in the 6th and 7th minutes, then added their final three goals in the last four minutes of the half. Kylie Arthier scored four of the five goals for Johnson.
Hatch recorded five saves in the conference matchup. UMF fired 17 shots on goal in the contest but Johnson's keeper Nichole Weeks blocked nearly every shot with 16 saves.
UMaine-Farmington will take a brief break from conference play with a non-conference game at Gordon College on Wednesday.
