UMF Silenced by Gordon in Non-Conference Showdown

Box Score

WENHAM, Mass. – The University of Maine at Farmington (2-4, 0-1) could not get on the scoreboard in Wednesday's 5-0 loss at Gordon College (3-3-2, 0-1-1) in non-conference action.

Gordon launched three shots on the Beavers' defense in the first five minutes with Jill Kefalas grabbing the first goal for the Fighting Scots.

Bridget Humphrey (Jefferson, Maine/Erskine Academy) tried to answer back with a shot in the 13th minute, but Gordon keeper Katie Mader made the save.

UMF had two chances to score a pair of goals with corner kicks, but the Gordon defense prevented the Beavers scoring attack from building any momentum.

The Fighting Scots added three more unanswered goals in the first half to claim a 4-0 advantage at the break. In the second half, Gordon added one more goal for the final margin of victory.

Sam Hatch (Hebron, Maine/Oxford Hills) saved 10 shots for the Beavers, which was her second game of the season recording at least 10 saves.

UMaine-Farmington returns to conference play on Saturday with Maine Maritime at 3:30 p.m.
