Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball team (3-22, 3-15) had five players score double figures on Saturday afternoon but could not pull off the upset over Husson University (19-6, 15-3) with a 90-85 North Atlantic Conference loss in the regular season finale.
UMF seniors, Nick Hilton (Wilton, Maine/Mt. Blue) and Logan Nichols (Minot, Maine) closed out their careers in maroon and white by tallying double digits. Hilton led the team with 19 points and recorded a double-double in the process with 10 rebounds. Nichols added 11 points, three assists, and two steals.
Ryan Camire (Acton, Maine/Sanford) and Sean Murphy (Westbrook, Maine/Westbrook) had big offensive days for the Beavers with 17 points apiece. Camire shot 6-of-10 from the field and made all three trips to the foul line. Murphy used his long range shooting by knocking down 5-of-7 attempts from three-point land and grabbed five rebounds. Eric Berry (Weld, Maine/Mt. Blue) added 12 points for UMF off the bench.
Husson's Eli Itkin scored a career-high with 27 points on 9-of-12 shooting and made seven shots from beyond the arc. Trevon Butler had a double-double for the Eagles with 20 points and 14 rebounds while Raheem Anderson was only an assist away from his own double-double with 18 points and nine assists.
The Beavers built a 10-point lead in the second half, but the Eagles used 11 three-pointers in the final half to march back and take the lead at 3:35. UMF kept the game within reach with a pair of fast break layups by Camire and Nichols and only trailed by four with 34 ticks left on the clock. Husson was able to make the clutch free throws down the stretch to hold off UMF's comeback efforts.
UMaine-Farmington finished the 2015-2016 season with the sixth-best team free throw percentage in program history at 70.9%. Hilton wrapped up his four years with 932 career points and ranks eighth all-time with 254 made free throws.
