McLaughlin and Reynolds Earn NABC Region 1 Second Team Honors

FARMINGTON, Maine - University of Maine at Farmington men's basketball dynamic duo of sophomore guard Zach McLaughlin (Hampden, Maine) and junior forward Jason Reynolds (Winslow, Maine) were each named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Region 1 All-Region Second Team, as announced by the organization on Monday.

With the honor, McLaughlin and Reynolds become just the second and third players in program history to receive All-Region recognition. They join Terion Moss '23, who was named to the NABC All-District First Team following the 2022-23 season.

McLaughlin had the best single season in program history in terms of scoring. Across 26 games this season, he set the program's single-season record for total points with 670, surpassing Cam Brown's previous mark of 648 set during the 1977-78 season. McLaughlin finished his sophomore campaign averaging 25.8 points per game while shooting an efficient 46.7% from the floor, 41.0% from beyond the arc, and 79.4% from the free throw line.

The North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Player of the Year helped lead the Beavers to an outstanding 20-5 regular season record, including a 17-1 mark in conference play and the top overall seed in the 2026 NAC Tournament. McLaughlin was phenomenal in both NAC playoff games. He opened the postseason with a career-high 40 points in just 29 minutes, shooting 12-of-26 from the field, 4-of-10 from three, and 12-of-13 from the free throw line as the Beavers defeated SUNY Cobleskill, 94-63.

He followed that performance with 19 points on 7-of-17 shooting in the championship game, helping lead the Beavers past UMPI to claim their first NAC Championship since 2010. McLaughlin was named NAC Tournament MVP after averaging 29.5 points per game across the two contests.

McLaughlin scored 20 or more points in 19 of 26 games this season, including eight games with 30 or more. During a stretch from January 10 against Maine Maritime through the NAC Semifinals on February 22, he averaged 30.4 points per game while shooting 54.5% from the field and 44.2% from three-point range.

He also excelled in both of Farmington's NCAA Tournament games, scoring 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting to help defeat No. 10 Montclair State. In the second round, McLaughlin poured in 31 points on 10-of-20 shooting, including 5-of-9 from beyond the arc, though the Beavers fell to Yeshiva to close out their season.

McLaughlin also averaged 3.6 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game.

Reynolds had an incredible season, rewriting the program record book for rebounding and double-doubles. He recorded 26 double-doubles in 29 games, finishing with averages of 17.3 points and 15.5 rebounds per game.

He totaled 449 rebounds on the season, shattering the previous program record of 369 set by Truman Libby during the 1965-66 season. His 449 rebounds led all NCAA players, regardless of class.

The NAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year earned Defensive Player of the Week honors nine times during the regular season, largely due to his dominance on the defensive glass, where he averaged 10.7 defensive rebounds per game.

Offensively, Reynolds was highly consistent, doing much of his work around the rim and from beyond the arc. He shot 49.0% from the floor and 37.0% from three-point range, knocking down 70 triples—second on the team behind McLaughlin.

Reynolds recorded a 15-point, 11-rebound double-double against SUNY Cobleskill on November 21, beginning a streak of 21 consecutive double-doubles that lasted until February 22, when he fell one point shy against the same team in the NAC Semifinals.

He delivered a breakout performance early in the season with 23 points on 7-of-10 shooting and 18 rebounds in a home victory over SUNY Delhi—one of eight games in which he recorded at least 20 points and 15 rebounds.

On January 17 at SUNY Cobleskill, Reynolds recorded his first 20-20 game, finishing with 21 points and a career-high 24 rebounds while playing all 40 minutes in a conference victory.

Reynolds was nearly flawless in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament, finishing with 25 points on 9-of-16 shooting, including 3-of-8 from three-point range, while adding 21 rebounds in Farmington's 96-84 win over Montclair.
