BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The University of Maine at Farmington women's outdoor track team opened its inaugural season at the Bridgewater State Invitational on Saturday with three competitors earning a top five finish.
Laura Pulito (Brownfield, Maine/Fryeburg Academy) paced UMF in the women's 800 meter run by finishing fourth with a time of 2:31.06. Kirsten Corey (South Paris, Maine/Oxford Hills) followed in 21st place at 2:51.93.
Morgan Crocker (Boothbay, Maine/Boothbay Region) had solid performances in the women's triple jump and long jump. Crocker leaped 9.78 meters in the triple jump to place fifth and just missed out on a top ten finish in the long jump in 11th place by soaring 4.33 meters.
Bridget Humphrey (Jefferson, Maine/Erskine Academy) recorded a pair of top ten finishes of her own in the women's discus throw and high jump. Humphrey earned a fifth place finish by throwing her discus 31.25 meters. In the high jump, she came in tenth at 1.43 meters.
In the women's javelin throw,
Molly Menice (Monmouth, Maine/Monmouth Academy) placed 12
th by tossing her javelin 29.68 meters.
UMaine-Farmington competes at the Fitchburg State Invitational next Saturday.
