Three Women Compete in F.I.R.E Meet at Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Massachusetts - Three University of Maine at Farmington women's track and field athletes compete in the F.I.R.E Meat at Williams College that was a two-day event that took place Friday and Saturday in Williamstown, Massachusetts.

First-years Heather Alexander (Orleans, Vt.) and Jenney Lutz (Lebanon, N.H.) along with senior Erica Johnon were the three athletes who competed.

Lutz competed in just one event, the 100 meters. Lutz finished her heat in 13.09 seconds en route to an 18th place finish overall in the event.

Alexander also competed in just one event, the javelin that took place on Friday. Alexander delivered a massive 37.33 meter throw on her best attempt en route to a fourth place finish overall in the event. The distance for Alexander set a new program record, besting her own previous best mark.

Johnson competed in a pair of events, the long jump and the 100 meter hurdles. Johnson earned a 21st place finish in the long jump, reaching 4.74 meters with her best attempt. Johnson finished her preliminary round heat in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 16.94 seconds. She placed 17th overall in the event.
