Box Score WATERVILLE, Maine – University of Maine at Farmington women's lacrosse (2-6, 0-4) was featured in the primetime lights of Smith Field at Thomas College on Wednesday night, but came away with a 20-5 North Atlantic Conference loss to Husson University (3-5, 2-2).
Jaclyn Langevin (Bow, N.H./Bow) scored UMF's first two goals in a five minute stretch midway through the first half, cutting Husson's lead down to 5-2.
The Beavers continued to keep the game close as Sierra Gilley (Harpswell, Maine/Mt. Aratat) tallied seventh goal of the season at 14:38 with Carly Raymond (Topsham, Maine/Mt. Aratat) dishing her second assist of the evening. Nearly a minute later, Mara Balboni (Oakland, Maine/Messalonskee) closed the gap to 7-4 with an unassisted goal.
Raymond got in on the action with about six minutes to go in the opening half with an unassisted goal, trimming Husson's lead to 9-5.
Balboni scored a buzzer-beater at the end of the game for UMF's final goal of the contest as Gilley contributed the assist.
Alyssa Arsenault (Winthrop, Maine/Winthrop) made seven stops between the pipes for UMF.
Mattie Russell and Amanda Deshaies led Husson with five goals apiece. Alissa Fallon recorded four assists and became Husson's all-time assists leader.
UMaine-Farmington embarks on a two-game conference road trip starting with Johnson State on Saturday.
