Beavers Battle Huskies in Gorham

Gorham, Maine – UMaine-Farmington women's lacrosse team opened their season at the University of Southern Maine on Thursday afternoon at Hannaford Field in Gorham. Rachel Shanks led all scorers with four goals in the 19-0 victory for the Huskies.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Rachel Shanks had four goals on five shots with one caused turnover while Aliza Jordan scored three goals, notched four assists, and one ground ball.
  • Allison Irish also scored four goals on five shots as Lindsey Keenan scored two goals with one ground ball.
  • Colleen Fleming notched two goals, three ground balls, six draw controls, and two caused turnovers.  
  • Isabella Monbouquette and Nicole Mercier each tallied three ground balls while Mercier caused one turnover.
  • Kaya Backman took two shots while Samantha Cross notched two ground balls, two draw controls with one caused turnover.
  • Heather Boland made five saves on 17 shots while Lydia Wasina made three saves on 10 shots.
  • Hala Van Nostrand was awarded the win while Mariah Vaillancourt made two saves on two shots for the Huskies.
