Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine – Two University of Maine at Farmington goals were matched by a pair of SUNY Polytechnic Institute penalty kick scores, and the Beavers and the Wildcats finished their North Atlantic Conference men's soccer clash tied at 2-2 in double overtime on Sunday afternoon at Leib Field.
UMaine-Farmington got on the scoreboard in the 37th minute when Gracien Mukwa's blast at the SUNY Poly goal from 30 yards out slipped out of the hands of Wildcat keeper Chase Coluccio, and Zach Chaisson buried the loose ball to put the Beavers up, 1-0.
SUNY Poly was awarded a penalty kick with no time remaining in the first half for an infraction in the UMaine-Farmington box, and Wakeley Banker converted to leave the game knotted 1-1 after 45 minutes of play.
Christian Beliveau scored a go-ahead goal for the Beavers in the 61st minute, again from a play initiated by Mukwa. Mukwa carried the ball right down to the SUNY Poly endline and sent a cross into the box, where it deflected off sliding attack Jimmy Pelletier and then SUNY Poly keeper Coluccio, before Beliveau knocked home the loose ball for the score.
Just over eight minutes later, UMaine-Farmington was again called for a foul in the box and Banker converted his second PK of the game to tie things up at 2-2.
Neither team was able to get many quality scoring opportunities in the overtime sessions, leaving the game deadlocked at 2-2.
UMaine-Farmington outshot SUNY Poly, 14-11, with the Wildcats holding an 8-5 advantage in corner kick opportunities. Jonah Sautter finished the game with three saves in the UMF goal, while SUNY Poly keeper Coluccio charted four saves.
