Beavers Set School Records at Springfield

The UMF Men's and Women's Track Teams traveled to Springfield College for their second outdoor track meet of the season. 

 
Four school records were set on the day for the Beavers.
  • Justin Castaldo set a PR and broke the school record in the 800m with a time of 1:59.54. He became the first man in UMF history to break 2:00 in the half-mile. The previous record was set in 2019 at 2:01.15 by David Doering.
  • Antonio Ciccomancini matched his PR and broke the school record in the 200m with a time of 23.25. The previous record was 23.26 set in 2018 by Ethan Solis.
  • Alixx Canwell reset his school record in the hammer throw with a 5 meter PR. His throw of 38.37 now sits atop the all-time list.
  • Steph McLean also reset her school record in the hammer throw with a toss of 33.15 meters. She bested her previous record by almost 30 cm.
In total, the Beavers set 16 top-10 performances in school history. Other highlights included:
  • Cara Perry ran 14.05 in the 100m recording the second-fastest time in program history.
  • Abbie Hunt had a season's best in the 1500m with a time of 5:57.06
  • Steph McLean also set an outdoor college best in the shot put with a heave of 9.25 meters.
  • Covy Dufort won the men's 400m hurdles with a PR of 1:01.58 and also doubled back to win the 3k Steeplechase with a time of 10:46.38.
Next up: Both Men's and Women's track teams compete on Sunday, April 25th for the NAC East Invitational.
