Box Score COBLESKILL, New York – A second-half penalty kick goal proved to be the day's only score, lifting SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF) to a 1-0 win over the University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team, Saturday afternoon at SUNY Cobleskill's Fighting Tiger Complex.
UMaine-Farmington dominated play throughout much of the game, and outshot SUNY ESF, 19-14, including a 10-7 advantage in the first half alone. The Beavers also had eight corner kick opportunities to the Mighty Oaks' two.
SUNY ESF broke the scoreless deadlock in the 71st minute, when UMaine-Farmington was called for a handball in the box. Kelly Cooper was tasked with the penalty kick attempt, and beat UMF keeper Callie Hammer for the lone goal of the game.
McKenna Brodeur, Emily Boyle, Kiley Merritt, and Abby Lash each charted three shots for the Beavers.
UMaine-Farmington's two-game New York road trip concludes on Sunday, Sept. 26, when the Beavers face North Atlantic Conference rival SUNY Delhi. Game time is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
