Women's soccer stopped by in-state rival Bowdoin

BRUNSWICK, Maine – The University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer team was unable to match the impressive firepower presented by Bowdoin College, and dropped an 11-0 decision to the Polar Bears on Wednesday afternoon at Pickard Field.

UMaine-Farmington keeper Callie Hammer matched her career high with 20 saves over 72 minutes played in Wednesday's contest, while reserve keeper Lily Souza recorded one save. Bowdoin outshot the Beavers 45-0 in the contest, and had 15 corner kick opportunities.

Becca Myers was the lone Bowdoin player to score multiple goals, finishing the contest with two. Nine other players scored one goal apiece, with reserves Isa Quintana and Ella Olcese each charting one goal and two assists.

The Beavers open North Atlantic Conference play on Saturday, Sept. 11, when they travel to Bangor, Maine, to face archrival Husson University. Start time for the match is slated for 1:00 p.m.
