BOSTON – University of Maine at Farmington sophomore Kristina Moody scored twice as the Beavers fell to Wentworth Institute of Technology, 24-2, in a non-conference women's lacrosse matchup on Tuesday night at Sweeney Field.

Moody scored her first goal of the night with 7:46 remaining in the first quarter from right in front of the Wentworth goal, off a pass from first year Abby Trefsger, narrowing the Leopards' lead to 6-1.

Wentworth tacked on four more goals in the opening frame to end the quarter with a 10-1 lead.

The Leopards opened the second quarter with a four-goal run, which was broken on Moody's second goal of the night at the 1:34 mark of the period. Moody's shot deflected off both the goal post and Wentworth goalie Lily Kuhns and into the Leopard goal to make the score 14-2. Senior Jade Petrie was credited with the assist.

Wentworth added a final second quarter goal to take a 15-2 lead into the halftime intermission, and scored nine unanswered goals in the third and fourth quarters for the 24-2 final.

First year Maddy Ten Kate charted seven saves over her 30 minutes in the UMaine-Farmington goal to start the game, with Kate Nowell coming on in place of Ten Kate to start the third quarter and logging two saves in the second half.

Saran Galan finished the game with 12 goals and one assist for Wentworth, while Olivia Murray tallied six goals and Stone Carmichael notched three.

UMaine-Farmington women's lacrosse opens North Atlantic Conference play on Saturday, March 26, when it faces Husson University in Bangor, Maine. Game time is slated for 1:00 p.m.
