GORHAM, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington men's and women's track and field teams competed today at the Husky Invitational hosted by the University of Southern Maine. The men finished in 7th place overall with 26 points while the women placed tied for 10th with two points.
Men's Highlights
In the highly competitive 55 meter dash, Seamus Reeve (Kittery, Maine) took 7th place overall with a finals time of 6.89 seconds. Reeve finished the preliminary round in 6.91 seconds.
In the 200 meter dash, Lucas Tuttle (Framingham, Mass.) finished in 14th place, just 1.39 seconds behind 1st place. Tuttle finished the race in 24.98 seconds.Â
Tom Gingras (Gardiner, Maine) recorded two points by placing in 5th place in the 55 meter hurdles. Gingras finished in 10.08 seconds.Â
Ben Vachon (Portland, Maine) placed 3rd overall, grabbing six points in the triple jump. Vachon's jump measured 12.34 meters to capture 3rd.
In the weight throw, Alixx Canwell (Chelsea, Maine) and Alex Urszinyi (Lawrencville, N.J.) finished 1st and 2nd respectively. Canwell launched a 14.84 meter throw to claim 1st while Urszinyi's throw measured in at 12.34 meters.
Women's Highlights
Erica Johnson (Nobleboro, Maine) had a solid meet for the Beavers. Johnson finished 9th overall in the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.18 seconds. She also set a school record in the 55 meter hurdles with a 9.73 meter time to finish in 6th place overall.
In the triple jump, Carrie Burr (Pittsfield, Maine) placed in 6th place with a throw that measured in at 8.92 meters.
Emily Hargreaves (New Gloucester, Maine) took home 7th place in the weight throw after her throw was marked at 11.74 meters.Â

The Beavers will be competing in the Maine State Championships next Saturday hosted by Bates College.
