KENNEBUNK, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington golf team shot their lowest round of the season on Monday afternoon at the UNE Invitational in what was the team's final tune up before the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship this weekend. The Beavers had three golfers card rounds in the 70s and finished with a four-man score of 311 today at Cape Arundel Golf Club.
Neil LaRochelle III (Lisbon Falls, Maine) once again paced the Beavers on the course, carding a season-low 74 (+5). LaRochelle III shot matching 37s on the front and the back nine. LaRochelle III placed tied for 6th overall.
The Beavers number three golfer, Jack Burton (Dayton, Maine) shot a career-low round, finishing with an impressive 76 (+7). Burton finished 9th overall, finishing with a 40 on the front nine and 36 on the back.
Ryan Sargent (Windham, Maine) had a great round, finishing with a 78 (+9) to gain some momentum heading into this weekend. Sargent shot a 41 on the front nine and a 37 on the back nine, placing tied for 11th. Sargent will be looking to repeat his performance at the NAC Championship from a season ago where he finished 3rd individually.
Chris Frey (Auburn, Maine) also had a solid round, finishing with a 83 (+14) on his card and tied for 16th overall. Frey shot a 46 on the front nine but turned a corner on the back nine, dropping down to a 37 to finish his round.
Thomas Thornton (Readfield, Maine) was the fifth Beaver to compete but did not contribute to the teams overall score. Thornton placed 25th overall, shooting a 98.
UP NEXT
The Beaver will travel to Canton, New York this weekend to compete in the two day NAC Championship at Partridge Run Country Club. The Beavers placed 5th at the NAC Championship a season ago.
