CANTON, N.Y. - The University of Maine at Farmington golf team entered Sunday's 2nd round of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship in 5th place and just seven strokes out of 3rd. Sunday's conditions brought brisk temperatures and persistent winds that made life difficult for golfers as very few were able to improve on their scores from day one. The Beavers finished the day with a 346 to tally a 682 across the two day tournament.
For the Beavers, Jack Burton (Dayton, Maine) carded the lowest score on the day, tallying an 82 (+10). Burton was incredibly consistent this weekend and throughout the season for the Beavers. Burton carded an 83 yesterday to finish the weekend at 165 (+21) and in 16th place.
Neil LaRochelle (Lisbon Falls, Maine) finished Sunday's round just one stroke behind Burton, carding an 83 (+11). LaRochelle III finished the first round with an 81 and tallied a 164 (+20) for the weekend to tie for 14th overall.
Ryan Sargent (Windham, Maine) finished just behind Burton and LaRochelle III for the weekend, carding a two round score of 166 (+22) to place 17th overall. Sargent shot an 80 (+8) on Saturday and an 86 (+14) on Sunday.
Thomas Thornton (Readfield, Maine) was the fourth golfer to contribute to the team's score, posting a 192 (+48) for the weekend. Thornton shot a 100 (+28) on Sunday and a 92 (+20) on Saturday. Individually, Thornton placed 45th.
Chris Frey (Auburn, Maine) bounced back from Saturday's round to shoot a 95 (+23) on Sunday. Frey finished the Weekend in 49th place, carding a 200 (+56).
