Fletcher Named to Maine Footy Soccer Club for 2023 Season

FARMINGTON, Maine - University of Maine at Farmington women's soccer junior captain Audrey Fletcher (Monmouth, Maine) has been named to the Maine Footy Soccer Club for this summer's season. Maine Footy is a part of the United Women's Soccer (UWS) League which is a national pro-am league that consists of professionally operated clubs within both the United States and Canada.

The UWS is committed to becoming the "preeminent pro-am women's soccer league in North America". The league strives to provide "high level competition for college players, aspiring and former professionals, and international stars".

The 2023 season marks the inaugural season for Maine Footy that is set to begin on May 21st at Deering High School's Memorial Stadium. A Maine Footy news release stated that supporters of the club voted 'The Tide' as the team's nickname.

Fletcher is one of 22 players named to the Tides' roster for the upcoming season. She will be joined by teammates from across the country with athletes coming from all three NCAA divisions. Some of Fletcher's teammates are from schools such as Southern Utah University, the University of New Hampshire, St. Anselm College, the University of New Haven, and the University of Maine.

Fletcher will become the first player in UMaine-Farmington history to play in the UWS.
