Johnson and Minott Pick Up Individual Championship Honors as Beavers Place 3rd as a Team at NAC Cham

WATERVILLE, Maine - The University of Maine at Farmington women's track and field team finished 3rd overall at the North Atlantic Conference Championship meet this weekend hosted at Colby College. The Beavers picked up 112 points to finish in 3rd place. Husson University was crowned Conference Champions, picking up 234 points.

Erica Johnson (Nobleboro, Maine) finished her heat of the 100 meter hurdles in 16.67 seconds to qualify for the finals. Her time broke the NAC Championship record of 16.77 seconds. She sat in 1st place after her heat. In the finals, Johnson raced to a time of 16.17 seconds, cutting half of second off her time and setting a new Championship record and pick up the gold medal. With her time, Johnson qualified for the New England Championship. Johnson also picked up a silver medal in the triple jump with a jump of 10.45 meters, grabbing eight points in the process. 

Abigail Minott (Bath, Maine) was crowned a NAC Champion in the triple jump, setting a NAC Championship record with a jump of 10.70 meters in her 5th attempt. Minott also placed 3rd overall in the long jump at 4.66 meters to pick up six points. Minott continued her strong day with a 5th place finish in the javelin with a throw marked at 23.24 meters. 

Cara Perry (Stoughton, Mass.) picked up four points, placing in 5th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.55 seconds. 

Anna MacDonald (Bangor, Maine) and Emily Eaton (Hampton, N.H.) each scored in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. MacDonald finished with a time of 13:10.34 to place 2nd overall and pick up eight points. Eaton finished 6th overall in 14:57.46 to grab three points. 

Charlotte Wentworth (Sidney, Maine) picked up three top-three finishes. In the 1,500 meters she placed 3rd overall with a time of 5:20.67, picking up six points. Wentworth picked up eight points with a 2nd place finish in the 800 meters. She finished the race in 2:28.35, two seconds out of 1st. She also placed 3rd overall in the 5,000 meter run with a time of 21:24.74 to pick up six more points. 

MacDonald also placed 7th overall in the 400 meter hurdles, finishing in 1:23.17 to pick up a pair of points. She was 6th overall in the 5,000 meter run, finishing with a time of 21:58.22 to snag three additional points.

Eve Poteet (Fairhill, Maryland) finished 5th overall in the 5,000 meter, picking up four points with a time of 21:44.89.

A day after being crowned the NAC Champion in the hammer throw, Emily Hargreaves (New Gloucester, Maine) finished 8th in the shot put with a throw of 8.93 meters. 

Kaitlyn Harmon-Bolding (Biddeford, Maine) was 7th in discus with a throw marked at 29.29 meters. 

The Beavers 4x100 meter relay of Johnson, Kennedy Todd (Scarborough, Maine), Perry, and Minott placed 4th with a time of 53.47 seconds. 

Todd, Johnson, Perry, and Minott raced to a 4:51.54 time in the 4x400 meter relay to take 3rd place.
